Parent Guidance That Supports Your Child’s Growth

Your family doesn’t just need strategies for behavior, or just communication tips, or just ways to handle daily challenges. You need support that helps you understand what your child needs — and a coach who gives you practical tools that make life easier at home, at school, and in the community.

You want clear guidance on how to respond when things get hard

You’re tired of guessing what strategies actually work for your child

You want to feel confident supporting your child’s progress every day

WHAT THIS ACTUALLY IS

What Parent Guidance Looks Like

Parent Guidance gives families the tools they need to support their child’s development, behavior, communication, and daily routines with confidence. Instead of leaving you to figure things out alone, your therapist takes time to understand your child’s challenges, your family’s routines, and what feels overwhelming right now.

In each session, we teach you strategies that address the root of your child's difficulties — whether they’re sensory, behavioral, communication-related, or connected to emotional regulation. You’ll learn how to handle tough moments, create calmer routines, encourage positive behavior, and support developmental goals in ways that fit naturally into your day.

Sessions happen one to two times per week, either at our center or in your home, depending on what makes sense for your family. You’ll work with a consistent therapist who understands your child’s history, listens to your concerns, and celebrates progress with you along the way.

WHO THIS IS FOR

Is Parent Guidance Right for Your Family?

This service works especially well if:

You’re Unsure How to Support Your Child’s Needs

You’re not just dealing with one challenge — communication, behavior, emotions, routines — it all connects. You want to understand why these difficulties happen and what actually helps in the moment.

Daily Routines Feel Overwhelming

Mornings, mealtimes, transitions, or outings often turn stressful. You’re trying your best, but nothing feels predictable, and you want clearer guidance on how to make the day run more smoothly.

Advice You’ve Tried Hasn’t Worked

You’ve tried strategies from friends, teachers, or the internet, but they didn’t fit your child. You need a plan designed specifically for your child’s needs — not a one-size-fits-all approach.

You Want a Consistent, Confidence-Building Plan

You’re tired of guessing what to do when challenges happen. You want someone who listens, understands your child, and gives your family a clear, practical roadmap that actually works at home.

WHO'S ACTUALLY WORKING WITH YOUR CHILD

Skills We Focus On

Every program is different because every child is different. But here's what Parent Guidance typically addresses:

Communication & Language

Whether your child is learning first words, building sentences, or working on conversation skills—we address communication in every session. Not just during "speech time" but throughout the day, with every therapist reinforcing the same techniques.

Behavior & Emotional Regulation

Tantrums, aggression, self-injury, refusal—we figure out why these behaviors happen and teach your child better ways to cope. Then we make sure every therapist uses the same approach so your child gets consistent support.

Social Skills & Peer Interaction

Making eye contact, sharing, taking turns, reading social cues, maintaining friendships. We don't just teach these in isolation—we create opportunities to practice with peers and give real-time coaching.

Daily Living & Independence

Dressing, eating, toileting, hygiene, household tasks. We teach the skills your child needs for independence and make sure they're reinforced across all therapies.

Sensory & Motor Skills

If sensory issues are affecting eating, behavior, or learning—our OT addresses that while other therapists adapt their approaches. If motor delays are holding your child back, we integrate movement into everything.

Academic & Pre-Academic Skills

Attention, following directions, completing tasks, early literacy and math concepts. We prepare your child for school success across all developmental areas.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions About Parent Guidance

What do you cover in Parent Guidance sessions?

Sessions focus on the challenges your family is facing right now. We may work on behavior strategies, communication support, sensory routines, emotional regulation, daily structure, or ways to reduce stress at home. The plan is always personalized to your family’s needs.

Do I need to attend every session?

Yes. Parent Guidance is designed for you. The strategies only work when caregivers are part of the process and feel confident using the tools at home.

Will you meet with my child too?

Sometimes. If observing your child helps guide the plan, we may include short interactions. But the main focus is giving parents the tools they need to support progress outside the session.

How often are the sessions?

Most families participate once or twice per week. We adjust the frequency depending on your goals and your schedule.

Can Parent Guidance happen at home?

Yes. Many families prefer home sessions because it allows strategies to be practiced in the environment where challenges naturally occur. Center-based sessions are also available depending on your location.
